In order to improve the treatment of acute and chronic Hepatitis E-Virus (HEV) infections and develop new therapeutic approaches against HEV infections, researchers at the DZIF are testing the antiviral effect of new substances. To better understand the disease, an HEV register is also currently being set up in which various clinical parameters of the individual HEV infection cases, such as age, gender, laboratory values, HEV viral load, clinical course and healing, as well as extrahepatic manifestations, are recorded in detail.
